We know from last time whats in store for us at the end of the year with the PS4, and through sources that its fairly inevitable that Microsoft will be making an announcement about the new XBOX as new domain names for a Microsoft event have been registered.
So lets bring it back now to March releases and we have 3 big names in particular hitting the shelves which are Tomb Raider, Gears of War and God of War.
Surprisingly all three of these well established brands are focusing on prequals this time around with the Gears of War franchise being set around 30 days after emergence day the defining moment in the gears timeline, but we are not following Marcus and Doms origin in the fight againt the locust.
Instead we follow Kilo squad as they battle a unrelenting locust horde at Halvo Bay, the locust are being lead by Karn a former locust outcast who returns to his people and takes position as general of the locust hordes and orchestrates emergence day.
Kilo Squad lead by Damon Baird & Augustus "Cole Train" Cole along with new characters Kilo Squad members Sofia Hendrik & Garron Paduk who after there epic confrontation at Halvo Bay are accused of treason by Colonel Ezra Loomis (Another new character and veteran of the Pendulum Wars).
The gameplay as always looks solid and flows well along with added modes and tweeks along the way this title is set to be another triumph in the hugely popular franchise and lets face it Microsoft needs this XBOX exclusive to continue its position in the battle against Sony.
Much the same as above in regards to gameplay and flow can also be said about our next title which is the Sony Exclusive God of War Ascension
Yes Kratos is back and we are witness to the emotional trauma following the death of his family six months earlier.
with the game being set around 10 years before the first God of War we see a more human Kratos and his struggles as he tries to break his bonds with Ares, armed with the iconic "Blades of Chaos" The Ghost of Sparta in true fashion hacks and slashes his way through a sea of cinematic boss battles against Titans & wrathful Gods, as always there is a challenge with the puzzle like obstacles and levels along with the picturesque locations and pixel perfect graphics all adds up to another entry into the God of War saga that delivers on point.
Which brings us to Tomb Raider its been five years since the last installment (Tomb Raider: Underworld, released in 2008) and it predates the 1996 original as we see a young Lara Croft stranded on a tropical island after being shipwrecked in a violent storm, Lara must find food and water in order to survive the perils of the island as well as search for other survivors, but in doing so stumbles across an army of mercenaries with one objective, kill Lara Croft.
The island will be open to explore (much like Batman: Arkham City) and as you progress to new areas you will unlock abilities that will help you progess past obstacles earlier in the game.
Early Views of the game see Lara sneaking behind cover and utilising a bow and arrow to vanquish her assailants unlike earlier games where running around frantically with guns blazing is the preferred method of attack, we will witness a more rugged earthy experience as we are emotionally immersed into Laras struggle for survival against the odds in this tropical nightmare and see the events that help shape Lara into the fearless adventurer we know and love .
Unfortunately we are told a Playable demo will not be released for this title but i'm sure when this game is released we will not be disappointed with the delivery and fresh take on the franchise.
All in all we have a month of grand stature for gaming and it's a fitting and fond farewell to this generation of consoles with what looks like three fantastic titles, which still begs the question with games of this quality being released do we actually need new consoles at this moment in time?

Sony's PS4 Announcement
Well all the waiting is now over and we have a clear view of what sony has instore for the gaming community and it looks good.
So i am just going to touch on a few things that happened during last nights unveiling.
Straight off the bat was the unveiling of the Dual Shock 4 by Mark Cerny which for me was a great moment as the pad looks like a very elegant adaptation of the iconic calling card that is Dual Shock, with its touch pad and light bar additions helping to a more interactive and immersing gaming experience.
The central processing of the machine which includes as stated, Supercharged PC Architecture, X86 CPU, Enhanced PC GPU, 8GB Unified Memory, and finally Local storage HDD,
looks amazing and can now offer a exponentially increased platform for developers to work with and who are practically now only governed by their ideas to what they can produce in future projects.
We also see the innovation offered to us via the minds of Gaikai with the option of sharing, spectating and immersing yourself in your friends gaming experience to the extent of even jumping in and taking control of a friends game if they get stuck,
Along with other features such as improved remote play options via the PS Vita which youll be able to use as a second screen if someone wants to watch the TV much like what nintendo offer with the Wii U and with future plans of eventually being able to play PS1, PS2 and PS3.
New games were offered up such as Knack, The Witness, inFamous second son, Drive Club and the unsurprising unveiling of KillZone: Shadowfall which brings me to the game i personally have been waiting for which is of course Watch Dogs this game looks superb with countless possibilities combined with smooth gameplay and a healthy mix of fast paced action and strategic gameplay (slightly reminiscent of Splinter Cell or Hitman) .
Nearing the end we were presented with small presentations from companies such as Media Molecule, Square Enix (who unsurprisingly offered up another Final Fantasy entry) along with their new "Luminous" engine, Ubisoft, Capcom (who dazzled us with the "Panta Rhei" engine).
Along with Blizzard announcing their new alignment with Sony and finally Activision dropping major news of Bungie releasing Destiny on the PS4 which was a bit of a slap in the face for Microsoft especially with the glimpse of Master Chief in the video presentation.
Sony definitely made a statement last night and are proudly embrassing the gamers which is something Microsoft may overlook in their bid to use the xbox as an interface to control your home,
If one thing is for certain it's that this year is set to be a defining year in gaming and i for one am looking forward to further announcements leading up to the launch of Sony's PS4.
